Apple has taken a small stake in a British chip designer Imagination Technologies, revealing how the company plans to power the graphics in future models of the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Imagination announced yesterday that Apple has acquired a 3.6 percent stake in the company, which will only cost Apple £3.2 million pounds. Imagination designs chip cores for a variety of applications, but its most prominent designs are its PowerVR cores for graphics in mobile phones.
The PowerVR cores seem to be of upmost interest to apple, and it is suggested these cores will power a whole new level of games in the future iPhone models meaning quicker, better and more advanced iPhone applications and games. As the race for mobile technology supremacy increases, this move by Apple shows their determination to come out on top.
